About the Press
Upstream Publishing produces practitioner-authored books for leaders making structural decisions — in enterprise technology, organisational design, governance, and fields where the real work happens before the pressure arrives.
The name Upstream Publishing reflects a specific conviction: governance failures, structural dysfunction, and organisational breakdown do not begin at the point where they surface. They are created earlier — in the decisions about how systems are designed, how accountability is assigned, how change is managed.
By the time a problem surfaces, the decision that caused it was made months or years earlier. Our books are built for those earlier moments. For the CIO designing governance structures before AI is deployed. For the executive building organisations before the next transformation begins.
Upstream Publishing is not backed by a larger publisher, not aligned with a consulting firm, and not dependent on vendor relationships. We are not a general business press. We publish for a specific audience with specific problems — and we do not apologise for that specificity.
"The decisions that shape outcomes are made upstream — at the point of design, not the point of failure. Most organisations learn this too late."The founding principle of Upstream Publishing

Gaurav Bhargava is a technology executive with over two decades of enterprise experience across ERP governance, AI strategy, and large-scale digital transformation programs across multiple industries and geographies.
He founded Upstream Publishing to produce practitioner-authored books addressing the structural and governance questions most enterprise organisations are not yet asking — but will soon be forced to confront.
His work focuses on the intersection of AI capability and enterprise accountability: the gap between what AI systems can do and what governance structures exist to manage them responsibly at scale.
